As the economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, some low-wage employers are complaining that they are having difficulty filling their positions. This is being treated as some sort of crisis. When, on the other hand, there is a job shortage, that’s considered perfectly normal.

It appears that our august captains of capitalism have, uniformly, never took/passed a high school course in their own, glorious (capitalist) economics, i.e.: “supply, demand & price”?
I wonder sometimes if we would, nationally, benefit from National Service. Not in the military. In retail. I think every person in this country should be made to watch two years of their lives go sliding down the drain as they punch a register, wait tables, or what not. And I would investigate like an inquisitor every single case of someone claiming medical exemption.
“You say on your deferment application that you have mobility issues. But I see you made it to this appointment. Request denied. Penalty of an additional three months. See you tomorrow at Burger King for fry station training.”
