Have You Now Or Ever Been Truthful?

After decrying each other as enemies of all that is good and decent, Donald Trump and NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani make nice. On the one hand, it’s good to see some civility. On the other hand, you have to ask yourself if—and when—these politicians ever really mean anything they say.

I am surprised that Mamdani turned into a sellout so quickly. He hasn’t even gotten into office yet.
Although I agree there’s a small chance this is Mamdani trying the carrot rather than the stick and that Trump simply keeps flip-flopping because his base would all swear off pork and, inshallah, switch faiths as ordered if The Donald ordered it, I suspect that it’s Trump showing us that it doesn’t matter: all politicians serve their owners’ interests and their own, in that order.

  • Pretty obvious what Trump is doing here and no I am not going to explain it to you

I’m still awaiting my GoComics update

  • I think there’s a difference between “selling out” and working with reality as it is while holding on to your ideals, and, so far atl least, I’m willing to give Mamdani the benefit of the doubt on this one. He made it clear after this meeting that he has not changed his opinion of Trump’s politics. He just needs Trump’s government’s cooperation to improve the lives of his constituents, and, let’s face it, as newly-elected Mayor of New York City, he is simply not in a position to slug it out with the POTUS and have any possibility of winning. Among the basic laws of warfare, military or political, is “If you can’t win, don’t attack.” (which is not to say “don’t snipe”)

  • Trump’s treating him like a kid to take the wind out of Progressives’ sails. Mamdani is the new Jeb Bush lol.

    • No, darn you, you explained it to them. We need to let the lightweights here figure it out, otherwise they’ll never learn

      Happy Thanksgiving!

      • Lol thanks bro. Happy Thanksgiving!

      • Perhaps this is a red state vs. blue state difference … or something like that. Where I’m from, a progressive urban area, it is the person who treats others like a kid who is considered the asshole and ends up getting the wind knocked out of his sails. Is it that where you live, instead the one treated as a kid ends up looking bad? I wouldn’t ever have guessed that without the supplied explanation.
