Hasbara

Israel’s “hasbara” online goon squads flood online spaces with specious remarks, distractions, whataboutism, ahistorical claims, religious arguments, and every other form of verbal diarrhea in order to dissuade and discourage commentary on the State’s aggressive policy of ethnic cleansing, land theft, and genocide against the Palestinians. People are starting to see through it, but verbal abuse remains an effective way to make people check out.

  • War crimes can be ironical.

  • From a recent Caitlin Johnstone post: ” … Israel’s Foreign Ministry announced last year that it was going to stop referring to its propaganda operations as ‘hasbara’ due to the public revulsion that has developed around that label. They never say ‘It’s time to stop doing the things that cause people to hate us,’ they just say ‘It’s time for a rebrand’.”
