Americans are suffering from all sorts of serious problems. They don’t earn enough, and their expenses are too high. They can’t afford to send their children to college or pay for healthcare. America is also responsible for problems overseas. For example, it is currently enabling genocide in Gaza. Democrats don’t have anything to say about any of these issues. However, when Texas Republicans unveil a sleazy scheme to abuse redistricting in order to gerrymander Congress in their favor by a few seats, leading Democrats like Gavin Newsom leap into action and declare war. Priorities.
Finally, Democrats Lead Into Action!

One of the more interesting things in Jake Tapper’s rather tepid — considering that none of it is new to people who were watching Biden wandering into traffic and carrying shoeboxes of note cards to briefings — book “Original Sin” is that he discusses “Bidenness” and the cult of loyalty within the Biden White House that handed Trump a second term. It’s been like that with the democrats since the 1990s. Never issues, only how doctrinaire you are to the party line and how long you applaud at the candidate’s speeches.
After every single misstep, pratfall, flub, SNAFU, and goof up — and they are legion — the dem “leadership” are still not figuring it out, the dem leaders should be self-terminating their positions of power within their party. ESC — Ever Since Clinton (Bill Clinton) — the party’s been going down a centrist path of disaster. Everyone who was ever “in” with the Clintons, the Obamas, or Dr. Jill and her husband — has to be removed from the party. That means almost everyone.
A whole new issues-only team. And by issues, I mean real issues. Wages, housing, food, student loans, tuition, jobs. Things that impact well-over 90% of the voters.
2026 ought to be hilarious. 2028 even more so. Because the dems will never figure it out.
Tepid, seriously, anything but, it was a completely unintentional confession of how (dangerously! yes, dangerously!) in the tank for the left the mainstream media has gotten. That Tapper published it without taking that into account makes one wonder just how stupid he really is? No .. not tepid ..
Having said that, on the topic of the left’s ineffectiveness, I would love to see Vance come out and say that he finds all the meme photoshops of his face amusing, though not in the way they’re intended. Amusing in that the people who make them think they are at all effective or influential. If I were him I’d say “Some of them are actually pretty funny, really. They’re really throwing some good focused energy at those things!” We’ve got another 3 1/2 years though.
Abducens makes a good point about how in the tank so much of the media is. I’ve become so inured to that phenomenon that Tapper’s admissions simply floated right on past me. I may have to reread the book solely to take in that angle of it. Right now, I’m just amazed about how far back in time the rot went in Biden’s head. At least to 2017.
It’s fantastic! No one, not Tapper nor anyone at CNN thought to say, wait a minute, all of this makes us look completely incompetent at best and hopelessly corrupted at worst (or.. at face value?). It’s an amazing display of lack of self awareness. Trust me as a corporate slave that this type of unintentional “giving away the game” goes on all the time from the boobs at the upper levels, but this one, hoo boy
You think the Democrats are “left”???!!! Bill Clinton was “the best Republican President we ever had,” as one commentator put it. Barack Obama went to Wall Street in 2008 and told them, “Don’t worry, I’m your friend,” and they told him who they wanted in his cabinet and what to do, and he carried out their orders. That ain’t “left,” that’s “velvet-glove fascism.” (Trump just took the gloves off.) The US hasn’t had a “left” worth mentioning since the MdCarthy (and I don’t mean Eugene) era. That’s one of the reasons so few Americans bother to vote.
There’s Bernie, Liz, the squad…. Each has some flaws of course, but they aren’t velvet-glove fascists. And they’d have a chance at wielding real power if we had ranked voting.
They certainly do have flaws, and major ones, they certainly don’t have any “real power,” and the DNC, which just voted not to support an arms embargo against Israel, would love to get rid of them.
