Everything Is Fake

These days, everything seems so fake that it’s impossible to discern what may or may not be real in order to determine whether you should care.

  • Like the “issue” of the utter, novel horror that Trump has allegedly dumped on the otherwise pristine USA, the fakery has been with us for quite some time. Admittedly, it is rapidly approaching avalanche stage.

One of the djinns in this particular bottle? What happens to the education (sic) process once all these kids start using these AIs for homework, reports, etc.? You’ll have to revamp the whole process to be more like law school. (See the opening scene in “The Paper Chase.”) Now, c’mon, tell the truth and shame the devil. How many of our current herd of teachers are capable of conducting a class room through a Socratic method? How many students (Ted’s wonderfully apt line a few columns back about Gen Z’s internet-native childhood having driven them insane comes to mind) possess the necessary capacity for it?

And all the entry-level retail and food service jobs will be filled with the Robot from “Lost in Space,” waving its orange claws as it assembled a macchiato and heats up a scone.
