Democrats were understandably furious at the Jan. 6th Capitol rioters who tried to subvert the result of the 2020 presidential election. Now, however, we know that Biden and the coterie of Democrats around him undermined democracy themselves, by misrepresenting Biden as being of sound mind and body, when they knew he was anything but. Recent revelations confirm this silent coup d’état, including a former aide’s admission that White House staff hid Biden’s cognitive decline. and a new book that details how senior Democrats and media allies lied to remain in power. If the Jan. 6th rioters were guilty of treason and deserved long prison sentences for attempting to disrupt democracy, what should happen to the Democratic politicians and journalists who, unlike the Republicans, succeeded in executing a coup by deceiving the public about Biden’s fitness to lead? They subverted the democratic process more than the Capitol riot.

Clearly, in a “real world” sense, anyone who knew the president was losing his marbles and kept quiet has committed, if not treason, certainly some crime that is quite close to it. How many publications DIDN’T report it? Did the New Yorker? The New York Times? The Atlantic? Did ANY major news outlet set itself on fire trying to warn people that Biden’s mind had slipped? Have any of the late comers discussed the lapse?
If there are so many who knew that Biden had lost his marbles, how come none have openly come forward? We’ve heard lots of “people say…” and “cabinet members say…” and such but I’m still looking for a named source. Among those who were in an actual position to know, who is willing to go on the record to say that Biden wasn’t actually making decisions? The way I see it, these various publications didn’t publish the story because there were no (and still are no) reliable sources.
Yes, I know that Biden no longer was able to present the strength that we expect a president to present. Yes, I am doubtful that Biden could have given us four good years during a second term. No, I did not vote for Biden in any primary. But the accusation is out there that Biden wasn’t making decisions or wasn’t making them competently. My question remains “Says who?”
Seriously?
You know, I haven’t heard anyone specifically and on the record say YOU’VE lost your marbles, but, well, I have a functioning brain and can make determinations
@abducens I am hearing that you don’t know of anyone who has spoken on the record either. Yes, Biden’s speech making is significantly worse than the bad that it always was in past decades. It definitely is not what we expect from presidents. And Biden definitely made decisions that I disagree with, as did all his predecessors as far back as I can remember. But with regard to the accusation that Biden was not making decisions or was not competent to make decisions … where’s the beef?
I think you should read the book. As someone who has published books with major publisher like this one, I can tell you that there is no way that they would have gone forward with it unless all of the sources were revealed to the publisher and their legal team to insulate them from a potential lawsuit. The fact that no one has threatened to sue Tapper for defamation pretty much proves the fact that it’s all true.
I think Lee is making a valid point about the lack of names attached to “Biden losing marbles.” But I think the explanation is pretty straightforward. Everyone who knew, everyone who was told knew: If Biden is senile, Trump wins. It was partisanship subverting the Constitution’s safeguards. When the Republicans do it, it’s monstrous, wicked, obscene. When the democrats do it, C’mon, man, cut the malarkey, we’ve got to stop Trump.
This is the result of two generations of democrats allowing the Republicans to control the process. The Reagan Republicans shifted to the right? So the democrats did too. The Clintons pushed a policy platform of compromise and centrism (i.e., keep going to the right). Cheney instituted a police state after he allowed a terrorist attack to give him the excuse to take the country into war in an attempt to get control of Afghanistan’s mineral wealth. All the while, the democrats fought, fought, fought to make sure student loans remain undischargeable and that health care remains in the hands of private industries.
Re reading the book, it is what it is, which is essentially a public declaration of things the public already intrisically knew. From that perspective, it’s mostly useless.
From the very unintentional perspective of showing how mainstream media fools itself and its viewers: EXCELLENT CASE STUDY
