China Syndrome

The Washington Post reports that Trump’s allies are encouraging him to declare a national state of emergency using alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election. The pretext would be used to nationalize the midterm elections this fall—which are constitutionally supposed to be run by the states—with ICE guarding and potentially blocking polling stations. It’s essentially a putsch attempt, or soft coup.

I’m reminded of the scene from a TV show where the one character says, “I’m suspicious. It looks like a trap.” The other replies, “If it is a trap, it isn’t a good one. You’re already suspicious.” The first character’s response? “It isn’t whether you’re suspicious. It’s whether you’re caught.”

In our current system of gummint, the democrats and the Republicans are the only available choices. Frequently, they are indistinguishable. In the few — the very few — cases where one of them TRIES to do something, the vast majority ensures minimal disruption to the Masters. So much so that most of the “big” “achievements” don’t even bear up to scrutiny.

Example: Obamacare. Before Obamacare, billions went into the pockets of Big Pharma and Big Insurance. The democrats applauded their efforts at passing Obamacare. This was ENORMOUS!!!1! Could someone tell me where the billions are going now, under Obamacare? Why, bless my soul, into the pockets of Big Pharma and Big Insurance.

Example: Smilin’ Joe Biden’s negotiation for lower prices on 10 “count ’em, 10, (out of thousands of)” drugs for Medicare recipients. Golly! Jeepers! Jillikers! That’s no malarkey. That’s big sav … What? Seven of those 10 drugs were going generic anyway by 2026? So the “savings” are just a bunch of smoke up are asses because the prices on those seven drugs are going to drop like the price of Christmas trees on December 26? Jeepers! Jillikers! I mean Dr. Jillikers.

Trump isn’t going to disrupt the midterms because it won’t matter who wins. If the Republicans win, it’s business as usual. If the democrats win, they won’t do anything that will positively improve the lives of the Masses, Unwashed.

I’ll concede that there’s a possibility of midterm disruption depending on whether Trump has run out of distractions to keep the media from actually doing its job with the Epstein files. But it will be theater. It is to Trump’s benefit to let the system that continues to fight, fight, fight for the billionaires to continue uninterrupted.

Say, Ted. How about a column that would tell us if there’s actually any there, there, with the Epstein files. So far, all I keep running into is stuff like, “A person with a long history of substance abuse and psychiatric disorders claims that he was forced to engage in cannibalism and devil worship at the top of Mount Everest during a solar eclipse …”
