War Reporting on a Budget

It’s true: for the first time in memory, all three TV networks have pulled all of their full-time reporters out of active war zone: Iraq.

  1. Dear Leader doesn't need bad news after he ascends to power. However, you can be sure all the networks will have coverage of the sweat glistening of his skin at the gym and sun-kissed pecs when he's at the beach.

  2. I don't know the point you are making Susan. The point I was making is the bazaar adulation liberals have towards Obama. I still see the 3rd worldish bumper stickers with Obamas mighty gaze and the word "hope" written below it. You can't tell me those people are deep thinkers.

  3. It's a comment on the what passes for popular media in this country. People magazine has more readers than Time magazine, so Time has morphed into a 'smarter' version of People magazine

  4. Haven't you heard? Major ground operations in Iraq are over, and there's nothing newsworthy to report. That's in stark contrast to Afghanistan, where major ground operations are just beginning, and there's nothing newsworthy to report.

Don't even put the names in the paper, just keep a running tally. Maybe people'll think they won the four-ball.

  5. I recommend learning the difference between the word "bazaar" and the word "bizarre" before making comments on others' depth of thought. Just a suggestion.

  6. I remember someone in the media commenting that Israel is frequently reported-upon because it has an active nightlife. (I doubt that's why, but the day-to-day reality of middle East living probably isn't too attractive to your average Harvard grad.)

Anyway, Obama is "Dear Father" not "Dear Leader".

  7. "Dear Leader"? How bitter and immature! Grow some nads and support the guy. He's inheriting a world of shit that Cheney foisted on us, and it won't be pretty.

  8. It's all about forgetting…the number of journalists (especially the TV people) dropped in South Vietnam after 1973 (because the war was declared "over"), though it pick right up again in 1975 when the North finally overthrew the South. If the Iraqi government collapses I would expect the number of journalists to increase.

  9. There are liberals for whom Obama is the Messiah returned. They'll learn better.

There are conservatives for whom Bush can do no wrong. They haven't learned better, and they've had eight year to do it in.
