Burning Bag

Congressional Republicans have stooped to new lows against Pres. Obama in recent weeks: inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress during delicate nuclear negotiations with Iran, and even sending a letter to Iran trying to undermine the negotiations by saying that the president doesn’t have the authorization to negotiate on behalf of the United States. And of course these were the same guys who heckled him during the State of the Union address. What’s next?

  • Finally acknowledging Republican perfidy, are we? Better late than never, I guess.

  • To consider Iran “our enemy,” of course, IS (one prime example of) the “Republican perfidy.”

  • Back in my day, the repugnicans at least had the good sense to keep illegal Iranian negotiations SECRET.

Am I the only one who is reminded of Iran-Contra, here? A state governor sure has hell doesn’t have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the country – neither do a random bunch of Senators. Wouldn’t it be a surprise if the Iranians agreed to terms one hour after our new republican president was sworn in? Who could have seen that one coming?

I used to vote for the man, not the party. That stopped during the Clinton admin when it became obvious that the GOP was more interested in fighting than in governing. They lost the presidential elections in 92, 96, 08 & 12. Did they join hands and go about governing the country? Oh, hell no – they wasted millions of dollars trying to overturn the will of the people. How long would you keep your job if you spent most of your time opposing the CEO and preventing your employer from functioning?

  • Have you gone over to the lesser-evil brigade, Ted, or are you merely deploring the state of political discourse in the United States ?…
