The Build Back Better policy package was supposed to be the centerpiece of the Biden administration’s infrastructure-centered agenda. But now it’s dead because conservative Democrats won’t support it. So the new White House budget doesn’t include it but it ramps up defense spending by billions of dollars.

Nothing to worry about. The ramped up dough will go into the same pockets!
Business as usual…
For those who have read “The Shining,” it’s kind of like we’re at the moment right before the boiler in the basement blows up. Steam’s starting to come out of the weak parts of the pipe connections, the release valves are whistling like demented tea kettles. Biden’s entire administration is one cataclysmic disaster after another. If Mean Gene Okerlund was still with us, I think he’d be bellowing, “Aw, c’mon, ref!” by now. (Maybe he’s waiting in heaven for the dems to botch Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court.)
There has to be a better name for the coming * Great Attractor besides war.
I propose “The Great Nuclear Leveling” instead of WWIII.
Why build back now?
The result of the push for nuclear war will level infrastructure anyway.
Maybe its better to wait and not waste money (waste lives, not money) on infrastructure until the Great Nuclear Leveling is complete.
It would be a shame to waste all that money on infrastructure before the extent of Die Off and Rubble Production is known.
* “What is attractor in chaos theory?
In the mathematical field of dynamical systems, an attractor is a set of states toward which a system tends to evolve, for a wide variety of starting conditions of the system. … Describing the attractors of chaotic dynamical systems has been one of the achievements of chaos theory.”

“While the end-of-the-world scenario will be rife with unimaginable horrors, we believe that the pre-end period will be filled with unprecedented opportunities for profit.” Mankoff
@Glenn: To paraphrase you, I’ll propose hastening “The Great Nuclear Levelling” instead of trying to mitigate -or rather pretending to- the climate Apocalypse.
Indeed, even if the end is now unavoidable, at least with going nuclear the Mankoff “disciples” won’t be the only ones to laugh their way to the bank, because even such golden calf adorers will be caught in the same predicament they did bring on all of us Gentiles.
P.S. Sorry, I couldn’t find -from my unfortunately (?) limited “cultural” background- any Hollywood movie reference to back up my point.
