So Sgt Peppers is 40 years old. Is that finally old enough that we can stop over-praising it? How many weak songs does an album have to have before you can drop it from your all-time lists? At least half the songs on this one are weak or unlistenable by any reasonable standards. If I had $1000 to spend at Amazon (since it’s not in iStore), I still wouldn’t spend the $10 it would take to pick it up.

    I guess my standards are unreasonable, then.

    Now, if we're talking about the White Album…or Magical Mystery Tour…or Abbey Road…I'd agree with you.

    The Velvet Underground and Nico
    The Doors
    The Who Sell Out
    Bob Dylan – John Wesley Harding
    The Byrds – Younger than Yesterday
    Are You Experienced?
    Disraeli Gears
    Aretha – I never loved a man
    Buddy Guy – Left my blues in San Fran

    I could go on. It's just too easy to pick albums from 1967 which are better (in some cases WAY better) than Sgt Pepper.
