Democrats complain, correctly, that Republicans are trying to subvert democracy with voter suppression and other tactics. But what democracy are they trying to subvert? Both parties are far more similar than anyone would like to admit, meaning that there isn’t really a true choice at the ballot box in the first place.

Re ” … there isn’t really a true choice at the ballot box in the first place”: Indeed, and there won’t be any true choice in the near future as the Dems are especially vigilant in their ongoing anti-democracy campaign to “legally” prevent any “third” (or more) party from getting candidates on ballots.
All this reminds me of the line from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” where the mother says something like, “The husband is the head, but the wife is the neck. And the neck turns the head.” The Republicans suppress votes. The democrats ignore voters. A sort of tag team head-neck combo.
Am I the only one who remembers when the Republican Party was on the precipice of collapsing? Nominee Trump had just finished beating the stuffing out of an entire field of contenders. And who did the dnc rig the primaries for? Hillary Rodham Clinton, First of Her Name. So reviled by the Republicans that just enough of them chose Trump’s victory over hers. Any other candidate, and Trump would have lost, and the QAnons would simply be a footnote in a thesis or two. But HRC did what she always did — put her ambition above all else.
Monkeypox, hurricane up the eastern seaboard, California superstorm, tsunami wave from the Canaries, Yellowstone supervolcano, comet impact, I don’t care anymore. Just skip to the end already. Maybe the squirrels will evolve intelligence and do a better job than we did.
