Woe Befall the Linguistic Interloper

White people are socially prohibited from using the N-word, while Black Americans are not. Some white people complain about being excluded from this “right.” Although one has to wonder, why do they care?

Sure would be nice to discuss this on the intellectual level via a Socratic dialogue or Devil’s advocate. I’ve tried to write a comment four times now, and each time, I backspace it away because, basically, there’s only one permitted response now: “Oh, yes. I agree totally with whatever the group’s consensus is.” I’m completely unnerved at the thought of actually committing the unmutual act of raising a theoretical question or scenario that is not 100% in agreement with the prevailing stance because the penalty for raising an inquiry that someone, anyone, anywhere, doesn’t approve of is simply too steep.

  • There is an N-word appropriate to describe the Privileged.

    niggard
    nĭg′ərd
    noun

A stingy, grasping person; a miser.A stingy or close-fisted person; a parsimonious or avaricious person; one who stints, or supplies sparingly; a miser.

Meanly covetous or avaricious in dealing with others; stingy; niggard.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition.

Privileged people are very covetous when it comes to sharing the wealth they own with those whose labor produces it.

My guess is that very few people who keep the yachts of the wealthy seaworthy are allowed to lounge with the yacht owners on deck.

See a beautiful movie from 1974, Swept Away: Directed by Lina Wertmüller. With Giancarlo Giannini, Mariangela Melato, Riccardo Salvino, Isa Danieli. A trip into the Mediterranean sea becomes a trip into the discovery of how society’s frameworks of the rich and poor are delicate and temporary. From IMDB
