Diversity Does Not Include Class

A research project found that writers at the New Yorker magazine are even less diverse than they were 50 years ago. The editor of the digital edition defended the magazine by saying that his section is becoming more diverse. Problem is, when journalists talk about diversity, they never talk about class. A newsroom that really looks like America includes people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, not just people who check off certain boxes.

  • Class is a uniting concept. Marx knew it. The terminally avaricious ruling elite knows it – that’s why there is total silence about it among the 0.001%’s vast propaganda networks. (Note, there once was mention of “the middle class” but, of course, that has been neatly, if mass murderously, destroyed by the Reagan-Thatcher, neo-liberal, “economic austerity” holocaust.)

I note in your example, as in reality, everyone is also very young. I mean, I’ve got to be fair about it, if there’s one thing a 26-year-old has on me, it’s his/her/their lifetime of experience. Sure can’t trick a 26-year-old.

  • Always the Chattering Class.

    Always.
