Worst. God. Ever.

In the Old Testament Bible story, God demands that Abraham sacrifice his son Isaac. Imagine the shrink bills!

  • Just had to let old Abe know who’s boss – what’s not to like ? The kid damned well better go to church – there may soon be a law mandating it (in the USA, at least) : http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2015/03/27/pkg-arizona-senator-church-attendance-mandatory.ktvk…..

The good news is that he’ll probably be allowed to pack heat while attending the service….

    • I notice she said “on Sunday” — so that might prove offensive to Jews and to 7th Day Adventists. She really must have been tired (as she admitted).

      • Β«She really must have been tired (as she admitted).Β» Excessive church-going ?… πŸ˜‰

      • More likely: Excessive strain from attempting to appear rational. πŸ˜€

      • In the (admittedly brief) video clip, I failed to notice any attempt to be rational on Ms Allen’s part. But then again, I doubt that I number among her prospective audience….

      • “America’s in need of a moral rebirth.” (00:48 and following)

      • If that’s rationality, make mine vanilla…. πŸ˜‰

      • I didn’t claim it was rational. It was an “attempt” to appear rational, aimed at a target audience.

      • I fear that you are too subtle for me, mein verehrter Lehrer, but on the other hand, so was Ms Allen…. πŸ˜‰

I’ve been saying this for years. This put Yahweh in Manson Territory.

  • The old guy is bugfuk crazy.

When I was four or five, I tried to build a castle out of wooden blocks, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted so I kicked them all across the room. So howzabout the big guy? He creates a defective product, blames said product for its own shortcomings, and drowns them all. This is the source of all that is good and righteous?

According to the advertisements, His Law is eternal and everlasting. All throughout the old testament, he directs people to stone adulteresses to death. Yet along comes his son (or himself in drag, depending on which fairy tail you believe) and tells people NOT to stone an adulteress to death.

So, what I wanna know – let’s say I follow God’s Law all my life (pause for laughter) I die on Tuesday, but God can’t fit me in for Judgement until Thursday. On Wednesday, He decides to change a few of His eternal Laws.

Do I get judged on the old Law or the new Law?

    • You know one of the things that drives me crazy about “the Bible”? It’s when “God repented” — in other words, changed his mind. How the hell can an all-knowing god change his mind about ANYTHING? (It’s there — don’t make me search for it.) πŸ™‚

      • Not to worry, mein verehrter Lehrer ; it’s all a question of our linguistic limitations and anthropomorphic misunderstanding of this particular deity, as stated here : https://carm.org/does-god-repent-an-examination-of-exodus-32-14-and-genesis-6-6. The case of Genesis 8:21 is not discussed, but surely that is also subsumed under the above. Don’t you feel more secure in your faith in the divine plan now ?… πŸ˜‰

      • Another thing that helped me on my journey was discovering a flaw in the book of Numbers. The numbers didn’t add up, so I began to doubt that the Bible is the perfect Word of God, as claimed by most of Christianity. πŸ™

      • “It is between fifty and sixty years since I read it [the Book of Revelation], and I then considered it merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherencies of our own nightly dreams … I cannot so far respect them as to consider them as an allegorical narrative of events, past or subsequent. There is not enough coherence in them to countenance any suite of rational ideas…. What has no meaning admits no explanation.”

        – Thomas Jefferson

I suspect that there have been far more atheists in history than we are led to believe. When one’s opinions can get you burned at the stake, you tend to keep them to yourself.

      • Or mutter, Β«Eppur si muove !….
