Forty years ago, some friends found they were eligible for food stamps. They had to hand over most of their cash, but got more food than they could eat.
Inflation has greatly reduced the real value of SNAP.
Volunteers who tried to live on what SNAP provides lost weight.
And now, Congress and Obama are proposing to abolish SNAP and let those people starve.
And this is progress under a liberal Democratic president.
So voting for another party, or not voting, seems out of the question?
Reagan tried to cut food stamps so as to further squeeze the life out of the people the capitalist system couldn’t make money out of employing.
The Reagan cut didn’t happen because the Agriculture lobby screamed that it would hurt their profits.
As much as Reagan hated the little people, he had a soft spot for the fat cats, and couldn’t let them down.
