Cartooning Online: Hack Worth 10x Genius

WTF? Miserable self-plagiarizing hack Bill Day just raised $42,000 on Indiegogo through a campaign based on fraud and lies. Brilliant, principled, creative original thinker Stephanie McMillan’s campaign is stuck at $4,200. If there were any decency online, there’d be a viral push to get her to $420,000!

  • Wow, I don’t know what to say. The only thing I can think of is that this society has corrupted and imploded enough that hackery is self sustaining. As in, by being a hack one gets major syndication, and by being majorly syndicated one has the visibility and fame to get crowd funded along with other fame perks that can make hackery self sustaining in ways that integrity is not.

I guess another other option could be that we have finally created a society so willfully stupid and emotionally pampered that cartooning which makes people think or seriously challenges their overly-simplified world views is just too challenging and upsetting for these people to care about when compared to the copious quantities of regurgitated pap that is both easy to swallow (i.e. thoughtless and unchallenged) and emotionally comfortable for them to do so. If so this is a society that will partially deserve its particularly awful oncoming fate (not that I wish it upon them, just that they were asking for it.)

Whatever the explanation for the phenomena is though, it is confusing and sad and says nothing good about modern American society, or its hope for the future.
