They explore the incident that sparked Coffin’s ban, the broader implications for free speech online, and the rising tensions surrounding Tesla vandalism in the United States. Ted Rall, a syndicated political cartoonist, and Manila Chan, a seasoned journalist, bring their signature insight to this timely discussion. Has anyone brought up that burning Teslas isn’t amounting to shit?
A couple of places have mentioned it. In short: Musk has lost money, but is still a billionaire many times over. His share in Tesla is, what, 15%? Even if that share’s value drops to zero, Musk will STILL be a billionaire.
Going after Musk? Fine. Plans start with outlining what the end goal is. If you’re anti-Musk, for whatever reason, I think the most-probable end goal people are visualizing is: Musk goes to prison. You can burn every single Tesla in creation to ashes, and Musk will shake it off like a 24-hour bug. But after you torch that last Tesla, there’s nothing in that scenario that puts Musk in a tiny little cell.
So it’s a bad plan. Don’t do bad plans.
