TMI Show Ep 58: “Biden’s Farewell + Gaza Ceasefire”

Echoing President Dwight Eisenhower’s warning of a “military industrial complex” in his 1961 farewell address, President Joe Biden brought his decades-long career in politics to an end by warning of “an oligarchy [that] is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that really threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedom.”

Indeed, income and wealth inequality have exploded to levels similar to those that preceded the 1789 French Revolution. “The TMI Show”’s Ted Rall and Manila Chan ask: what can or should be done to make American society and economics more equal?

Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire deal in the Gaza War that could send three dozen Israeli hostages home and give starving and homeless Palestinians a reprieve from more than a year of genocidal violence and wind down a 15-month war that helped destroy Biden’s presidency.

“President Joe Biden brought his decades-long career in politics to an end …”

Oh, I think he brought his career to an end by screwing up the evac of Afghanistan … and screwing over millions on the student loan thing … and letting Joe Manchin bend him over the Resolute desk with the whole clown-car show that was his environmental bill … and all the other staggering failings of policy as well as his terrible personal decisions and, oh, goodness, so many other things.

The political flatlining from the debate he had with Trump. Pardoning his own son after stating on multiple occasions that he wouldn’t also helped cement his legacy for what it truly has always been.

I’m sure some hard-core politics types watched last night, probably to see if he’d trail off and start listing grocery prices from 1974, but Biden’s presidency ended when those two Afghans fell from the plane and 13 soldiers got killed during what should have been a straightforward evacuation by a military superpower. Everything after that (CLEAR!!! Bzzt!!) has been the medical-procedural standard of (Adrenaline! 40 cc’s! Now!) the doctors working (Scalpel! I’m going to try direct heart massage!) feverishly to try to (Dr. Jill!, It’s over! You did everything you could!) revive the corpse.
