On today’s TMI Show, co-hosts Ted Rall and Manila Chan are joined by former Pittsburgh Post-Gazette editorial cartoonist Rob Rogers to discuss the fallout of Trump’s reelection win, namely: Where do Democrats go now? What will a Democratic Resistance 2.0 look like? How effectively can Democrats block Trump’s initiatives? Are there areas in which Democrats and Republicans can work together in a bipartisan manner? Who are the rising stars within the party? Will Democrats continue to drift right to chase anti-MAGA Republicans, or will they follow the advice of Bernie Sanders and others who suggest that it’s time to either abandon the Democratic Party or take it over?

Where do democrats go now? The dustbin of history.
I’ve been using a lowercase “d” in the word democrat (and all other uses where it ought to be a capital “D”) for some time now. The party has been fumbling for a very, very long time. To borrow from Will Rogers (“I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat”), and that was back in the 1920s. Stop using the paddles. The party died at 5:34 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, November 8, 2024, as called by the Associated Press. Take away the crash cart.
Much of my anger, nay, much of my disgust comes from the moral bankruptcy and naked cynicism that has infected the party. It’s like a rap sheet. Run the A-listers through your head. There’s always an asterisk. Hmm, how DOES Pelosi make so many tremendous stock market trades unless she’s in on some secret info? Why DID the Clintons shut down their “charity” foundation right after she lost the election if it wasn’t a pay-to-play money grab? Why DIDN’T the Obama administration get universal healthcare through during that four months? Hmm. … Why did NONE of the democratic administrations close Gitmo? Obama didn’t, Biden didn’t. Did Harris even mention closing it?
If the far left doesn’t take this opportunity for what it is, they’re hopeless too. Don’t “hope” the democrats will “change.” Don’t “expect” them to learn anything. Start a new party. Keep it simple: three planks at most, and FORBID, FORBID, FORBID anything DEI-related. No more vertical silos.
