Downscaling MLK’s Dream: Response

posted by Susan Stark

Jesse Jackson and Reverend Al can go down to Louisiana to march for 6 kids, but for some reason they can’t go down to Louisiana and lead a massive march with the residents of the Lower Ninth Ward to get their land back.

Yet white liberals treat these “photo-op” black so-called leaders as if they were channelling Martin Luther King’s spirit directly.

  • Ms. Stark,

Sorry, but I'll plead ignorance here: I have been down to t Louisiana since Katrina and I don't know exactly what you mean. Are you talking about the lack of essential services or something even more pernicious? Has there been a land-grab here that I'm unaware of?

  • It's about the fact that many victims of Katrina are still in FEMA trailers, particular those who lived in the Lower Ninth Ward.

How about letting them come home to rebuild their lives?

  • Susan: that's just flat out retarded, I'm not sure about Sharpton but Jesse Jackson has had all kinds of marches demanding justice for Katrina victims. Didn't he just have one 2 months ago? Don't be like Bill O'Reilly, if you wanna make a statement, fact check it first.

I never said Jackson was channeling King's spirit directly, I don't know anyone who thinks this. I do think he has done a lot of great things though.
