People Who Bother You in Bathrooms

After North Carolina passed HB2, the “Bathroom Law” designed to prevent transgendered people from bothering cis people in restrooms, I began thinking about the universe of high-profile Americans who really do cause mayhem in johns. Mostly, they’re Republican senators, coaches, and Republican Congressman who are also coaches.

  • If your Venn diagram is accurate, Ted, the solution to the problem is obvious : public toilets should be divided into those for Republicans and those for others. People who wish to be bothered can use the former category….

  • PEOPLE WHO PISS ON THE SEAT!!

I am in favor of capital punishment for some crimes. Just sayin’

    • Does this mean that NC is now the “Show me” state?

How are they going to enforce it, anyway? They sure as hell wouldn’t hire a man who likes looking at penes. They aren’t going to let a woman into the bathroom without violating their own law. I’m pretty sure people would talk if they started doing the exam outside the restroom.

      • Perhaps a photograph of ones genitals worn on ones forehead would ease concern.

The peekers would then have to look into the eyes of the peekees.

      • That would certainly help speed dating…

  • The obvious solution is public urinals, meaning really public.

    • From the site to which you link, Glenn : «The RLD also happens to be the most historic area in Amsterdam, and it was built mostly in the 17th Century, so you can imagine they didn’t foresee this problem in the design stage.» Somehow I doubt that public urinating was less common in the 17th century than it is now in the 21st. On the other hand, there are more of us….

      • “In the late seventeenth century Paris was without a sanitary system—its streets were a giant latrine for five hundred thousand people. The terraces of the king’s palace—the Tuileries—smelled so strong that no one dared go out on them except to relieve themselves.”

From “Voltaire’s Bastards” by John Ralston Saul.

“By 1910 a little over half of the cities in France had any sewers at all.”

The biggest obstacle to public sanitation was from “the virulent opposition of the property owners”, “the New Right of their day.”

The right always opposes money spent for public good. Unless it can be privatized, more profit for the few, a toll both society for the many.

      • “The problem with the French is that they have no word for pissoir”

        George W. Bush. Probably.

      • Or entreprenuer. Bush for sure.

This bathroom law is a goofy fake issue. It’s just another divide and rule psyop. We should pick and choose our battles and I would advise ignoring this one. Since this law cannot and will not be enforced there is only one reason to make such a policy – to get the masses distracted from substantive issues and fighting each other over something completely fucking ridiculous.

    • Human rights are never ridiculous. They are, in fact the most important struggle between the ruling class and the proletariat.

You’re right that it’s a divide-and-conquer issue, and we can’t allow them to divide us. We must fight *all* their attempts to keep us down. (“They came first for the communists …”)

      • «Human rights are never ridiculous. » Indeed, but at the same time, CrazyH, appeals to «human rights» have become the most often used excuse for initiating wars against l’ennemi du jour. We have to keep in mind that the most important of all human rights is the right not to be murdered, and that «human rights» or «R2P» cannot be allowed to be used as an excuse to kill people in foreign lands – or indeed, at home….

      • “Your right to swing your arms ends where my nose begins”

  • I got it! I got it!

I know how to keep pervs from exploiting this law. If someone gets caught showing their junk to little girls, and claims to be trans – the state can volunteer to pay for his operation.

    Simple, no?

I’d be willing to volunteer my services as anesthesiologist or surgeon, either one.
