Journalist Seymour Hersh publishes a blockbuster expose behind the killing of Osama bin Laden, which turned out to be more like shooting fish in a barrel since bin Laden was a prisoner of the Pakistanis. Despite all this, Seal Team Six retains their official status as heroes of the nation.

  • Regardless, the Bin-Laden that was (allegedly) dismembered in Paki-land is most probably NOT the CIA asset BL that died in 1993 (or thereabouts).

So badly, for his own fleeting relevance, corporate propagandist Seymour Hersh needs OBL to have lived far beyond his real termination date. This way? “They” (BWO Hersh) can wave the evil “Haji” at us just one more time … .

  • Dead men tell no tales – no US administration (and no Saudi king) would wish to see Mr bin Laden testifying before a court. The notion that the US forces had been ordered to take him alive, but that he was killed in a firefight when he resisted capture is risible….

    • My sources tell me that the order was, “Dead or Alive” … which of course is newspeak for “dead”

Did Seal Team Six get medals? Perhaps the red badge of “Shot an unarmed grandfather in his pajamas” with an oak cluster? Sure as hell ain’t ‘bravery’ ‘honor’ ‘valor’ or any of those other words we usually associate with ‘hero’

    Ted,

Hersh’s article has garnered quite a bit of skepticism (and not from just the fringes). Could you go into what you see as the legitimacy of his article?

    • My understanding it that those who have greeted Mr Hersh’s article with «skepticism», are the usual apologists who have always – in the event that have been around at the time – disparaged his reporting. Trevor Timm has an excellent article on this issue in the latest Columbia Journalism Review, under the telling title The media’s reaction to Seymour Hersh’s bin Laden scoop has been disgraceful (http://www.cjr.org/analysis/seymour_hersh_osama_bin_laden.php)….

  • Only one committed to the pervasive conservative or liberal ideology could have been without doubts about the veracity of Obama’s Osama tale.

Why would a government so dedicated to lies present an unvarnished truth to the people it holds in such contempt?

  • Hersh’s story came out on 11 May. The Independent reported it as fact. The New York Times reported that the White House had refuted every single item of a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy propagator.

On 12 May, the New York Times had two articles that said Hersh was telling the truth.

    ***
The White House stated that Osama was living in a ‘multi-million dollar mansion.’

I was asked for 5,000 rupees by a Pakistani who had done me some favours. I agreed. 5,000 rupees is about $20, and I was happy to give him $20. Then he said, ‘I need American rupees.’ Meaning $5,000. So he didn’t even get the $20 I would have been happy to give him.

The White House was right. Osama WAS living in a multi-million dollar mansion. But that was Pakistani dollars, not American dollars, so about $20,000. Or less.

And the rest of the White House story was just as accurate. Meaning, the only thing that was true was that the Navy Seals HAD murdered Osama. But all the details were completely and utterly fabricated.

The U.$. system is entirely corrupt and evil and always has been. Why would any moral or intelligent person believe anything the elites or their politician and media organs say? Ever?!

The official story about bin Laden, all of it, is a great case study in black propaganda / psychological warfare against the American people.
