Early Bird Gets the Turd

I published this on December 1, 2008.

It doesn’t pay to be early. Must…be…like Niall Ferguson…

  • I wouldn’t despair quite so much about these things. Yes I understand being correct and prescient well above and beyond the norm only to get ignored and despised by the mainstream must be tremendously frustrating. But what you need to think about is what you are working for. One can sell out and do well during most of the course of their life but fade out quickly, or one can maintain integrity benefit humanity and leave a lasting legacy. Many of histories greatest heroes were despised or discredited during their life time but are recognized after the fact for commitment and contributions which are remembered from then on. As Noam Chomsky points out: “The people who were honored in the Bible were the false prophets. It was the ones we call the prophets who were jailed and driven into the desert.”

If you regret not selling out there is still plenty of time, but I would beseech you to stay the course you are on. It is important and I an many others greatly appreciate your contribution.
